The action doesn’t delete the image, just stores it as a reject. To mark an image as a reject to be deleted, press X. Like the P shortcut key, X is used when sorting through images from a shoot. When you press the P key in any module it picks the image, which you can see by the little white flag in the top left of the image in the film strip.
